This couple came to me with a dream of finding a Condo to retire in. As they have aged on Kaua’i they wanted to have a place that they would not be affected by the whims of a landlord but also be affordable as their income decreased over the next few years before full retirement. A solid place of their own. Income is low on Kaua’i so they had some savings and just a small current income. Enough to pay rent though… so why not?
The end result was purchasing a 2 bedroom condo with financing that was close to their previous rent rates than they really thought would be possible. They not only received a very good loan rate but they also used a First-Time Home Buyer discount and a credit for new appliances. They are happily living in their Condo on Kaua’i where no one can make them move again and that they will be able to afford as full retirement approaches (their goal reached).
